2.10 describe how current varies with voltage in wires, resistors, metal filament lamps and diodes, and how this can be investigated experimentally

If you increase the resistance the current will decrease. resistors, metal filament lamps and diodes all create resistance in a circuit and so will decrease the current.
This can be investigated using an ammeter and measuring the current with and without these components, or with different voltage levels (measured by voltmeter.)

  1. Do you need to know how to be able to draw these graphs and if so how?

    1. yes you should know four important graphs for:

      -Metal Filament Lamp
      -Wire
-Different resistors (couple of resistors on and graph)
      -Diode

Look online for these graphs or in a text book

  8. Don't we need to have graphs for this? There are a few on BBC Bitesize, but they don't have a wire one. Could you add some graphs to this post (voltage/current)

    2. The graph for a wire is directly proportional (i.e. a straight diagonal line through the origin) as the current is proportional to the voltage.

  9. What about voltage in wires?

  10. i feel like this would have been better if you included the actual steps to find the resistance of a wire to prove ohms law and the graphs for the filament bulb and diode and well as different uses and properties for diodes, resistors, variable resistors etc. nevertheless i still use these as revision guides so thank you!!

  12. do wires increase or decrease resistance?

    1. they do neither, they just carry resistance

    2. this is not strictly true as resistance cannot be 'carried', however the resistance offered by wires is negligible

  13. You forgot to add wires as a component that generated resistance
